Welcome to the British Invasion. Nigel and Clive have been entertaining the folks of Twain Harte at Eproson Park for several years and it is exciting to have them back on our stage for the opening of the 2017 Concert In The Pines Series. Beginning at 6:00pm June 17th, our concert series will get underway. Stop by one of the local restaurants and pick up dinner to go. There will also be food vendors at the park for your dining pleasure. Make sure to put your chair out early at Eproson Park and then bring a beverage of your choice and enjoy dancing at the park each Saturday evening between now and September 2nd. Don’t forget our opportunity drawing at intermission and also our “orange buckets” for donations so we may continue to bring you our Concert In The Pines series each year. Looking forward to seeing you there on Saturday evenings June 17th to September 2nd.
Jill Warren – Jill and the Giants
Who is this Jill Warren guitar player that landed here in our little foothills?
“Meshing tasty little leads with percussion, and her own vocal accompaniment, Jill calls her music “experimental” which I think means its a bit more dangerous than improvisational. She plays jazz smatterings with avant-garde originalisms and some random occasional classic rock samplings, all rolled into one little lick– it is pretty mesmerizing.”
She started out in Durango Colorado. Her musical influences vary and she has played for an all girl band with the great name of ‘Somebody’s Ex.’ The guitarist and singer has spent several years performing throughout the western United States, and before that, she toured with various bands, and played guitar in the orchestra pit for famed musicals. ”
She began taking guitar lessons at age 6, and throughout her school-aged years, Warren – a self-proclaimed “total nerdy band geek” – played in the jazz band and sang in the choir.
Attending the Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, and finishing her degree, Warren got her first music job at Disneyland, playing guitar in the all-female pop band MissBehavin’. “I’m from a teeny little town, so it was really exciting,” she said. She eventually came to Murphy’s to be near her father. Over the years, her style has evolved and the venues have changed – but one thing has remained consistent. “It’s about the music first,” Warren said. “If there’s belief in it, I think a lot of times it’s our belief that makes it.”
